Kids on Bikes is a great non-profit based in Colorado Springs that aims to inspire and empower kids through a love of biking. They have several different outreach programs, from providing bikes to those who can’t afford it, leading families in rides and education on bike safety.
Part of our pro bono work for 2014 was helping these passionate people craft the look of the inaugural annual fundraiser, The Great Bicycle Carnival. We got enormous creative freedom to dream up the identity and materials for the event, and we knew that we wanted to use illustration to capture the fun, whimsical spirit of a carnival.
We illustrated a logo that could work in a limited color palette and that would be appealing on bicycle jerseys and future apparel and goods in future years, as well as illustrating the initial advertising poster with a carnival scene (on wheels, of course.)
Most importantly, we were thrilled to hear that they had a great turnout and that our work inspired numerous ideas for future years.
We also were honored to receive an Art Directors Club of Denver award for illustrative work in 2014 for our work.
