We love creative wedding clients, so when we started planning our wedding in 2010, we knew we were going to have a great time.  We wanted to create a fully branded wedding, from the RSVP cards down to the centerpieces, so the whole event felt special and very personalized.  We created a theme around an image of a boy and a girl (our very-generic nicknames for each other while dating) and told the story of “the boy and the girl get married” which reflected our love of storytelling.

On the design-side, we worked with a palette of mustard yellow, grey, cream with grass-green accents, as well as patterns of polka dots and stripes.  We used hand-illustrated drawings throughout the programs which read like a storybook of our relationship and wedding ceremony.  We wanted all of the pieces to feel personal, meaningful threaded with whimsical touches and good fun— very much our style.

On the writing-side, we had a lot of fun: telling our story on our invitations, using puns (a personal weakness of our copywriter) of the then-novel “Keep Calm” posters that we saw everywhere in the years after our wedding, designing infographics and venn diagrams to convey highlights of our relationship, and gave even the mundane informational signs for the reception a tongue-in-cheek twist.  One of our favorite parts? The thank you cards we designed like a MadLib.  We love designing pieces that are functional (made the marathon of writing thank you cards much shorter) and still meaningful and fun for our guests.

We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out, and after our wedding we had more people comment about how it was like nothing they’ve ever seen and that they felt like the design actually made our guests feel special — exactly what we wanted!
