We went to hear Aaron Draplin’s talk: Tall Tales with a Large Man with a bunch of great folks on Wednesday night. We had an all-around fantastic time with a sold our crowd at Denver Art Museum, which is where AIGA Denver has many of their speakers. We love Draplin’s love of the midwest, giving things away, having side projects just because you love them (see: field notes), factory parts, design that comes from non-designers just looking to put information together in the best way possible for customers, obsession with futura bold (his favorite font ever), and undying love of sweatpants (and so many other things).

We’ve been rootin’ around in Draplin’s extensive Flickr archive and feeling right at home in his vast collection of design nostalgia. It’s absolutely worth a look, or, in our case, an attention-sucking vortex of time.
